Pamela,
Florida politicians want to redraw our congressional voting map in the middle of the decade – because Donald Trump told them to. If they succeed, we'll have fewer choices as voters, weaker representation for our communities, and more gerrymandering in Florida. We cannot sit back and let this happen.
Back in 2010, voters overwhelmingly passed the Fair Districts Amendments to our state constitution, which made partisan gerrymandering illegal in Florida.
And just this month, our new poll showed that a majority of Florida voters oppose mid-decade redistricting, continue to oppose partisan gerrymandering, and want maps that put community interests ahead of political advantage.
But do you know who doesn't agree? Politicians – who would rather draw maps that preserve their own interests at our expense. Common Cause Florida is ready to fight back, by:
Educating voters on what's at stake, making sure Floridians understand how mid-decade redistricting threatens fair representation and why protecting the Fair Districts Amendments matters.
Exposing attempts to manipulate our maps, by focusing on closed-door deals and illegal gerrymandering so the public knows exactly what's happening.
Mobilizing grassroots pressure on lawmakers to reject this by equipping Floridians with the tools to call, write, and show up at legislative meetings.
We need your support now, to build awareness, mobilize Floridians, and stop politicians from manipulating our districts for their own gain. Help us fight back against mid-decade redistricting.
Thank you for standing with us in the fight for Florida's democracy,
Amy Keith, Executive Director
and the team at Common Cause Florida
