Dear MoveOn member,
The lesson from history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.
Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.
Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.
But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.
On No Kings Day on Saturday, October 18, the next nationwide day of mass protest and defiance, we're going to show Donald Trump and the world just how many of us refuse to submit—not now and not ever. It's looking like it could be the biggest day of protest in modern U.S. history. And MoveOn is doing everything possible to make it so.
MoveOn's team is working around the clock to help organize this peaceful mobilization, which will bring together millions of Americans in cities and towns nationwide—but it takes significant resources. MoveOn needs to support thousands of local organizers, provide materials for protests, put in place safety and security precautions, coordinate across all 50 states, and fight to make sure that even the corporate media outlets cowering before Trump cover the events.
Will you donate $5 a month to MoveOn to help organize No Kings on October 18 and then keep working, day in and day out, to end Trump's tyranny?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
If you are feeling frightened or disoriented, you're not alone.
There's no doubt that Trump's regime is getting worse by the day.
Yet we have learned several lessons about how to deal with this tyrant, and we must practice them.
The first lesson is that confronting a tyrant requires courage. Large profit-driven corporations like ABC (which bowed down to Trump and yanked Jimmy Kimmel off the air) have none. Several universities and many law firms have also surrendered to Trump.
But bold, progressive leaders like Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have displayed backbone. And, most importantly, hundreds of thousands of everyday Americans have shown courage by making good trouble at Republican town halls and participating in peaceful demonstrations.
And courage can be contagious. It is easier to be courageous if others are courageous, which is why solidarity is essential. Demonstrations show us we're not alone—that we're part of a broad movement to take back our democracy.
And they work. Thanks to pressure from hundreds of thousands of MoveOn members and others, ABC was forced to reverse their decision and reinstate Jimmy Kimmel just one week after pulling his show off the air.
That is why we must do everything we can to make the next No Kings Day on October 18 as huge as possible. But we need your help.
Please chip in $5 a month to MoveOn to help make October's No Kings Day a pivotal day and bring many more people into our movement to fight Trump's tyranny and turn the corner to end MAGA's reign.

MoveOn's team is already working around the clock to make October 18 a success. Planning these mass events includes:
-
Recruiting and training local volunteer hosts. The goal is for there to be rallies, marches, and demonstrations in thousands of locations, attended by millions of people. And each will be led by a local volunteer stepping up to organize their community. MoveOn is organizing virtual trainings for volunteers, putting together detailed written guides, and providing on-demand one-on-one support to empower thousands of grassroots hosts with the skills to lead safe, successful events.
-
Providing materials and logistics. From rally signs and banners to coordinating stage and sound system rentals, megaphones, and other equipment in key locations, MoveOn is helping events to be accessible and impactful.
-
Spreading the word far and wide. MoveOn is running digital ads to help get the word out about the protests, sending tens of millions of emails and text messages, putting together powerful, attention-getting social media campaigns, and assisting local organizers with reaching out to community leaders and local press, all to ensure huge turnout on October 18 and that our message reverberates nationwide.
Training and empowering volunteers, providing support to large events in key cities, and turning out millions requires resources, and, as a grassroots organization, MoveOn can't do it without you.
The future is in our hands. But only if we act together.
