We can still win

It's tough right now, but we can do it.

Pamela,

North Carolina has been a haven for brazen gerrymandering for a LONG time. While we have a long way to go in the Tar Heel State, today we are celebrating the one-year anniversary of a landmark victory: the Supreme Court's ruling in Moore v. Harper.

Some quick backstory: One of our affiliates, the National Redistricting Foundation, had mounted a successful challenge to the state's gerrymandered congressional map.

But anti-democratic radicals tried to reverse that ruling based on the fringe "independent state legislature" theory. Our affiliate supported voters who fought back all the way to the Supreme Court and won: preserving checks and balances by making sure state legislatures would not have sole authority to draw maps.

The fair maps movement prevented a five-alarm fire for our democracy and AOTL was there to build on this, but map manipulators are still using every possible avenue to try to cling to unearned power. So we have to keep up the fight.

On the one-year anniversary of the Moore v. Harper decision, can you make a donation to All On The Line to help us continue to defend democracy?

While we reflect on this victory, we also resolve to keep fighting back after tough losses, like the Supreme Court's recent ruling making it even harder for plaintiffs to stop racial gerrymandering.

But we need to remember that when we get organized and stay in the fight, we can achieve significant victories.  This movement came together to secure a win for democracy in Moore v. Harper last year, and we can keep winning in the future.

But we can't do it without your help. So please, can you make a donation to All On The Line today to power our efforts to keep defending democracy?

Thank you,
Art Mitchell
Deputy Director of Litigation
