In a moment, we're going to ask you to rush a donation of any amount toward our end-of-quarter goal before midnight. But first, here are five reasons why your support for our campaign to elect Lucas Kunce is so critical right now:
- Josh Hawley is vulnerable. Hawley won his last race with only 51% of the vote. And now, reporting from Morning Consult shows that he's the least popular GOP Senator up for re-election in 2024 — with an approval rating even lower than Ted Cruz in Texas and Rick Scott in Florida!
- National Republicans have made this race one of their top defensive targets. These insiders know that if they don't step in to tear down Lucas and make Josh Hawley look strong, there's a real chance they could lose this Senate seat. So from launching desperate attacks to a new GOP Super PAC, they've been hard at work to keep this seat under their thumb.
- Missouri voters know how to take back their power at the ballot box. In 2018, they rejected anti-union "Right-to-Work" and voted to raise the minimum wage well above the federal level. In 2020, they expanded Medicaid. And in 2022, they legalized weed. So in 2024, they're ready to defeat Josh Hawley.
- This November, our race will share a ballot with an initiative to end Missouri's extreme abortion ban. Red and purple states like Kansas, Kentucky, and Ohio have overwhelmingly passed similar initiatives — and elected pro-freedom candidates like Lucas — when reproductive rights are under attack. So having the resources to get the truth about Hawley's extreme record on reproductive freedom in front of voters will absolutely make a big difference in this election.
- Lucas has proved he can harness record-breaking grassroots energy. First, he outraised Hawley over all of 2023. Then, he earned the support of the Missouri AFL-CIO, local and statewide leaders, major national organizations like VoteVets, and tens of thousands of everyday working people. The average donation to elect Lucas is just $28.
But now, we've got to keep this momentum going. Tonight's deadline is the next real chance pundits, insiders, and voters will have to assess the strength of our campaign — and we need to continue proving that we're building the movement that's going to defeat Josh Hawley and take back power for everyday people.
