Timeline of Save the Children's Emergency Response in Ukraine: One Year Out
February 2022 February saw the war in Ukraine escalate dramatically, forcing families like Samad's to leave everything behind and cross into neighboring countries to find safety. Thanks to you, Save the Children was able to mobilize across Europe, providing food, essential items and safe spaces for children like Samad to rest and play.
June 2022 A hundred days after the crisis escalated, thousands of children remained trapped underground in metro stations and school basements while violence, shelling and bombing continued. With your support, we were able to reach 122,000 children with life-saving essentials, protection and assistance.
August 2022 Daria, 12, was among the many child refugees who came to Poland after fleeing the war in Ukraine. Last summer, we organized a summer camp so children like Daria could socialize and make new friends. This was made possible by supporters like you, giving refugee children hope and a head start in their new lives.
February 2023 Save the Children has worked in Eastern Ukraine since 2014. Over the course of this past year, we've scaled up our efforts to meet the tremendous needs of children and families. Supporters like you have helped us reach over 524,000 people with life-saving aid – food and water, cash transfers and safe spaces – to ensure children and families impacted by this crisis have the support they need.
