I know that together we can do this.
Hi, it's Cecile.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for Greg Abbott's extreme trigger law to go into effect. That means that on August 25th, abortion will be illegal in Texas with no exception for rape or incest.
My mother would be horrified to know that a right all Texans had when she was governor has been eliminated by Greg Abbott and others who are only focused on control and power.
It's shameful. My mother taught me how important it was to fight for what's right — that's why I joined this campaign as National Finance Chair. Because Texans need new leadership.
Greg Abbott has failed to keep Texans safe from a deadly pandemic, failing power grid, and gun violence — and now he's eliminated our right to basic reproductive health care. No more.
If the Supreme Court is going to leave it up to the states to decide who has control over a woman's body, then we MUST elect a governor in Texas who believes in a woman's freedom to make her own decisions about her own body, health care, and future. There's no other option.
I told Beto and the team I would help them hit their $1,000,000 end-of-month fundraising goal before Sunday's deadline, so I'm asking:
Will you contribute $3 or more now directly toward Beto's campaign to defeat Greg Abbott? Future generations are counting on us.

As difficult as this moment is, I find hope in this people-powered movement for change. In the over 79,000 people who are volunteering to unseat Abbott and the hundreds of thousands of individual contributors to Beto's campaign.
I know that together we can do this.
Thank you,
Cecile
