I'm on the road for a 49-day, more than 5,600 mile Drive for Texas where I've been making the case and pressing our advantage.
Whether it's prosecuting Abbott for his corruption and incompetence or sharing our vision for Texas (great jobs, world-class schools, affordable health care), we are making the case to the voters of this state.
From the panhandle and west Texas to east Texas and every other region of the state, big city and small town alike, we are out there connecting with the people who have the power to win this race with us.
And it's not just me out there. More than 79,000 people have signed up to volunteer for this campaign and we are putting them to work.
Over the month of July alone we've called, texted, and knocked on doors each and every single day. And without spending a dime yet on TV advertising, we've already cut Abbott's lead by 10 points.
We've also received more than 500,000 contributions to the campaign over the last four months, outraising the incumbent in the last reporting period even though we have a much lower average contribution.
This is a great position for us to be in with three months to go. As we demonstrate success in volunteer sign-ups, donations, and turnout at our events, we are giving people hope and showing that we can win. That encourages even more people to sign up, donate, and turn out.
But it's about to get a lot tougher.
We are going to be hit hard by Abbott as he attempts to slow our momentum now that we're entering the final 100 days of this campaign. There will be a barrage of the same disinformation and lies (about socialism and open borders for example) that you've heard before, only with a lot more money behind the attacks.
I just need to be able to fight back so that I can keep connecting with the people who are going to provide the margin of victory in this election. They need to hear how Abbott has failed them and how I will deliver for them.
Thank you for your help and support. I promise you that I will make the most of it.
Beto
