"Firmly on track toward an unlivable world"

Last week, the United Nations released its latest comprehensive report on the climate crisis, and there's no sugar-coating the results.

Dear MoveOn member,

Last week, the United Nations released its latest comprehensive report on the climate crisis, and there's no sugar-coating the results.1 In the words of the U.N. secretary general, unless things change fast, we are "firmly on track toward an unlivable world."2

The temperature in Antarctica just hit 70 degrees above normal.3,4 Hydropower dams are shutting down because there simply isn't any water left due to drought.5 And record-breaking wildfires have erupted in Siberia.6

The good news is that there's still time to prevent the worst, and President Biden has proposed exactly the kind of historic clean-energy investments we need to get on track.

But, Andra, we have absolutely zero chance of passing real climate legislation if Republicans win back control of Congress, and if we waste any more time, it could be game over for the planet.

Humanity's survival is on the ballot this November. Will you chip in $5 a month to help stop the Republican climate deniers from taking control of Congress and destroying our last chance to prevent catastrophic global warming?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

If you're not freaking out about the climate crisis, consider this:

Massive ice shelves in the Antarctic are melting before our eyes.7 Entire towns are being destroyed by wildfire.8 Last summer's heat wave in Europe killed thousands.9

And Republicans want to pour gasoline on the fire. They're not only opposing climate action, they're pushing for increases in fossil fuel production by opening millions of acres of public lands to drilling and weakening the environmental protections we have now.10 It's madness.

But the most most important news from the U.N.'s latest climate report is that there's still reason for hope.

In fact, even as the rest of the economy struggled through the pandemic, renewable energy sources like solar and wind continued to grow at the stunning annual rate of almost 10%.11 Meanwhile, President Biden has proposed historic clean-energy investments to make the transition even faster, and we're so close to passing the legislation we need to get it done.

The truth is that the biggest threat to the climate might just be the Republican Party. If we're going to have any chance of preventing the worst effects of global warming, we cannot let the Republican climate deniers and Big Oil puppets take control of Congress.

MoveOn is currently developing a cutting-edge campaign strategy to increase voter turnout and stop Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, and the anti-science Trump Republicans from seizing control and burning the planet.

Together, we can stop the GOP and save the planet. But we must act now. Will you start a $5 monthly donation today?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly to help stop the GOP climate deniers from taking control of Congress.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump and his allies are methodically enacting a plan to place some of Trump's most ardent supporters in key election offices that oversee vote counting, have the power to certify—or decertify—election results, and declare election winners and losers. We've launched a powerful, multimillion-dollar campaign to stop Trump. But we need your help to power our effort.

Will you chip in monthly to power our campaign to defeat Trump and the GOP in 2022?

Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
