Our democracy is on the line, and we need your help.
Greg Abbott lied to the people of Texas — again. This is what he promised Texans after signing one of the most extreme voter suppression bills in the country last September:
"No one who is eligible to vote will be denied the opportunity to vote."
Yet, nearly 23,000 ballots were rejected during our primary elections earlier this month. An investigation by the Associated Press found, "Texas threw out mail votes at an abnormally high rate."
This is no accident. This was part of a deliberate voter suppression scheme orchestrated by Abbott and the Texas GOP to attack democracy, keep Texans from participating in our elections, and retain their hold on power.
Our democracy is on the line, and we need your help. That's why we're launching a new Fight Voter Suppression Fund to go directly to on-the-ground work in Texas to bring more people into our democracy and to defeat Abbott. While Abbott and Texas Republicans are trying to take away Texans' votes, Beto is working to build an inclusive democracy where everyone who is eligible to vote is able to. He's been doing this work for years and helped lead the fight against the SB 1 voter suppression bill last summer.
