In a moment I'm going to ask if you can split a donation between my campaign and the DSCC to help Democrats defend the Senate, but first I want to step back for a moment and explain exactly what is at stake.
Right now, we are facing the most egregious attack on abortion rights in decades, even though a majority of Americans support upholding Roe v. Wade and protecting access to safe and legal abortion. Our fundamental rights are in danger, and Mitch McConnell is to blame.
As Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell made stacking the Supreme Court with far-right, anti-choice justices a top priority, and he's already made it clear that if he gains control of the Senate in 2022, he will once again turn his attention to politicizing our judicial system.
One of the best ways we can protect Roe v. Wade is to confirm judges and justices who will affirm our most important constitutional rights. And to do that, we must defend and expand our majority in the Senate.
That's why I'm counting on this grassroots community, Cynthia. We've set an emergency goal to raise $25,000 before midnight, and we're not going to hit it without your help. Please, will you split a $375 donation between my campaign and the DSCC right now?
Republicans are only one seat away from retaking the majority, and if they do, Mitch McConnell will stop at nothing to halt President Biden's agenda and continue to chip away at reproductive rights.
I'm working hard in the Senate every day to get the support we need to protect the right to abortion at the federal level. But if we hand the Senate back over to Mitch McConnell in 2022, all of our work to build support for this cause is moot.
We need to do everything we can to protect the right to abortion — that means passing critical legislation AND confirming judges and justices who will uphold Roe v. Wade and 50 years of precedent to protect reproductive health care. To do both, we need to keep the Senate blue.
We have a lot of work ahead to overcome GOP attacks on our most fundamental rights and defend the Senate, so we need to make big investments now — and that means we need you.
