Pamela, Right now, the doctrine of qualified immunity shields law enforcement from accountability, and it denies justice for the countless families robbed of their loved ones. It's long past time to end qualified immunity. Let me be clear: There can be no justice without healing and accountability, and there can be no true accountability with qualified immunity. That's why I've reintroduced legislation, in partnership with Senator Ed Markey and Senator Elizabeth Warren, to fully end qualified immunity and ensure justice and accountability for police brutality. Will you add your name and show your support for this vital legislation? We must act with urgency. We must be bold and unapologetic in our pursuit of policies that ensure police accountability and address the crisis of systemic racism and police brutality plaguing Black and brown communities. We must legislate intentionally to correct persistent injustices codified by law and transform every aspect of our criminal (in)justice system — that's why this bill is so important. Sign on to make your voice heard and support my legislation to end qualified immunity and finally hold law enforcement accountable for brutality and violence. In solidarity, Ayanna Pressley |
