Working people need a raise.
People can't live on $7.25 an hour – and our movement won't stop fighting until 27 million workers get the raise they deserve.
The House passed a COVID-19 bill that raises the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour through a multi-year phase in. But the Senate vote was blocked by an unelected Senate parliamentarian. It's absurd, and we must take action.
Alexandria joined Rep. Ro Khanna and other colleagues in calling on President Biden to overrule the parliamentarian and give Americans the raise they were promised.
The American people gave the Biden administration a mandate that included passing a $15 federal minimum wage to finally help lift people out of poverty. Now, he has a responsibility to deliver.
The principle is simple: If you are working a full time job, you should be able to afford to live. If Biden does not act to overrule this decision, he is condoning poverty wages for millions.
