Pamela, If I were in the Senate *right now* I'd be fighting like hell to pass the Equality Act. Let me explain. The Equality Act would guarantee equal protection under law for LGBTQIA+ Americans. It is necessary + urgent. Right now, LGBTQIA+ discrimination is *still* completely legal under federal law. But some GOP senators like Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri want it to stay that way. According to Senator Hawley, the Equality Act is "a radical attack on religious freedom." 🤔 Ummm….. That's some homophobic BS right there. The exact kind you'd expect from the U.S. Senator who helped incite a white supremacist insurrection. Look, I want to be clear about this, Pamela: LGBTQIA+ protection under law should be a basic human right in America. The Senate *must* pass the Equality Act as soon as possible. Are you with me, Pamela? Add your name right now to my petition and let's demand that the U.S. Senate pass the Equality Act to ensure equal protection under law for LGBTQIA+ Americans. Unlike my homophobic dude from Missouri, Pamela, I'll be a Senator who actually does what's right + just. I've always fought for LGBTQIA+ rights and protections. Always will. 🌈 That's why I was the first public official in Pennsylvania to officiate same-sex marriages while marriage equality was still illegal. That's why I put my transgender pride and LGBTQIA+ pride flags back up every single time the PA GOP takes them down. And that's why, if I were in the Senate *right now*, I'd vote for the Equality Act to ensure equal protection under law for LGBTQIA+ Americans — just as all U.S. Senators *must* do now. If you're with me for LGBQTIA+ rights and agree that the U.S. Senate *must* pass the Equality Act, will you add your name to my petition now? Let's make our voices heard and demand equal protection under law for all LGBTQIA+ people. Thanks for all you do, Pamela. 🙏 John John Fetterman Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania |
