Dear MoveOn member,
Right now, 147 legislators who voted to undermine the results of a free American election are still serving as members of Congress.
Trump might be out of office and headed for the Senate trial for his impeachment, but the members of the GOP Treason Caucus are still in a position to block the passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and other legislation that would fortify democracy, and they'll even act as judges, rather than co-conspirators, in Trump's Senate impeachment trial.
Can you call Representative Jamie Raskin at 1-833-933-0108 right now to demand he expel every representative who opposed counting the certified and legal Electoral College votes?
Here's an example of what you can say:
Hi! This is Andra, a constituent from Chevy Chase. I'm calling to say that every member of Congress who opposed counting certified electoral votes must be expelled from Congress. Opposing the outcomes of democratic elections is an attack against the government of the United States. These treasonous individuals should not be allowed to remain in Congress.
Trump was impeached for inciting a violent insurrection against the government of the United States, both in his direct address to the murderous mob on January 6 and for his efforts to override the results of our democratic election that culminated in the attack on Congress. But Trump did not act alone. Right now, 147 people sit in Congress who supported the efforts for which Trump was impeached.
Accountability for undermining our government is necessary before we can move forward together to ensure it never happens again. Let's demand that our representatives hold that standard for their colleagues.
Thanks for all you do.
