No doom and gloom here, Team Bernie. We've got a great problem on our hands ahead of our FEC fundraising deadline tonight.
First, the good news: our campaign is ahead of every other campaign — including Donald Trump! — when it comes to the number of donors and the number of contributions. More than 1 million people have chipped in more than 2.5 million times to Bernie 2020.
Now, the even better news: While our average contribution has fallen quite a bit — just $17 this month — so many people are contributing that we are very close to hitting our goals.
We're still a little short of where we need to be… but if we hit our goals for tonight's deadline, it will send an unmistakable message to the media and our opponents about the strength of our campaign!
We're the only campaign 100% funded by grassroots donations for the primary and the general election. You should be very proud of that fact.
When we win this election, defeat Donald Trump, and transform our country, it will be thanks to millions of us who came together to build a movement.
