In times of disaster and crisis, you’ve helped put kids first all year long. Here are just five (of the many times!) you’ve been a lifeline for children in 2025: JANUARY: Los Angeles Wildfires In January, a series of catastrophic wildfires swept through the Los Angeles region. Schools, homes and entire neighborhoods were reduced to ashes. Your support helped us reach more than 17,000 children with essential items, psychosocial support and safe spaces to play. FEBRUARY: Humanitarian Aid Cuts In February, the U.S. government announced cuts to humanitarian aid funding, which left 2.3 million malnourished children at risk. Thanks to your support, we were able to continue vital programs and reach vulnerable communities who might otherwise have been left behind. For example, our generous donor community helped provide lifesaving health services to communities across Afghanistan facing extreme hardships through 48 health facilities — reaching over 13,000 children under 5 with malnutrition treatment. MARCH: Earthquake in Myanmar In March, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, destroying homes and key infrastructure and impacting more than 17 million people. With your support, we’ve provided 15,000 people with ready-to-eat meals, 6,000 households with emergency household kits, over 26,000 emergency kits (blankets, sleeping mats and mosquito nets) and over 14,000 people with drinking water. AUGUST: Famine in Gaza In August, famine was officially declared in Gaza as millions of people face devastating hunger, displacement and war. Thanks to your generosity, we treated nearly 14,000 people for malnutrition, provided safe water to over 575,000 people via water trucking and reached 1.6 million people across Gaza, including 811,000 children. OCTOBER: SNAP cuts In October, the federal government shutdown left millions of children at risk of going hungry due to the uncertainty around funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). You helped us quickly respond to reach 22,500 children with food and essential items. |
