How to get a big job in the Trump administration

Election deniers have been put in key positions of power, and we can't let them spread unchecked myths that could do real harm

Odds are, Pamela, you aren't trying to get a high-ranking job in the Trump administration.

But if you were, here's a tip: to go far in the consideration process, make sure to repeat as many debunked election conspiracy theories as possible.

Just look at their new pick to help lead the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

He was a trailblazer for pro-Trump election deniers, helping spread a baseless claim about noncitizens voting in the 2016 election — a myth that Democracy Docket says became "a precedent for the right to reject official results and sow distrust in the voting process."

Now he's getting rewarded with a powerful position.

But wait, there's more. Trump has already appointed election conspiracy theorists to key roles at the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security — giving anti-voter operatives a chance to attack the independence of elections from the inside.

The Guardian: "The people who tried to overturn the 2020 election have more power than ever — and they plan to use it."

And now, the Department of Justice is working hand-in-hand with outside conspiracy theorists to advance false claims that Trump's 2020 loss was somehow illegitimate. Investigators are reaching out to discredited activists and partisan operatives to advance bogus claims of fraud.

False allegations could be used to manufacture a reason to restrict ballot access and change how elections are run — interfering with the 2026 elections in a blatant power grab.

Just look at the ways myths about noncitizen voting have been weaponized to push for mass voter suppression bills like the "SAVE" Act.

Election deniers have been put in key positions of power, and we can't let them spread false claims that could do real harm.

At Fair Fight Action, we push back against election disinformation, work to prevent or mitigate voter suppression, and make sure voters have the information they need to cast their ballots.

But we count on grassroots support to power this work, which only grows more vital by the day. So we need to ask: Will you make a donation today? Help defend democracy from those who seek to overturn free and fair elections.
