I was born on a United States Air Force base in the Philippines and watched both my dad and stepmom proudly serve in the USAF. Growing up as a military kid, the holidays were always a little different for my family. I saw the sacrifices service members make, the missed birthdays, the empty chairs at the table, the holidays spent apart.
That's why the USO means so much to me. They bring families closer, even when they're thousands of miles apart.
