Pamela,
The fair maps movement is doing a ton of work right now to ensure the actions of our government truly reflect the will of the people. We wanted to give you a quick update on where things stand:
KEY UPDATES
- On December 4, the Supreme Court sided with anti-democracy extremists, allowing Texas's racially gerrymandered map to stand. The fair maps movement will remain in this fight to ensure that voters in Texas — and nationwide — have equal representation.
- The Indiana Senate voted on December 11 to reject one of the most egregiously gerrymandered maps in the country. This is a testament to the work we're doing to mobilize voters in defense of fair maps nationwide.
- Missouri voters submitted 300,000 citizen signatures to put the state's congressional gerrymander on the ballot next year.
ONGOING LITIGATION
- The National Redistricting Action Fund and its affiliates are involved in cases in 5 states — Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, and Texas — concerning the makeup of up to 10 congressional districts and 7 legislative districts.
- The National Redistricting Foundation is also involved in 2 cases defending the integrity of census data.
It's your support that allows the fair maps movement to fight for fair representation and mobilize voters to push back when our rights are being threatened. Donate today to help power the movement working to ensure every American has an equal say in our government.
