America's newsrooms have reached a new low in their profit seeking ways

Pamela, three months after Trump's $1.1 billion public media cuts took effect – folks across the country are still feeling the pain. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is winding down operations. Local stations are shutting down. [1] And if you think corporate media is going to fill the gap... think again. Instead, CNN and CNBC just signed a deal with Kalshi, an online gambling company, to incorporate probabilities (betting odds) directly into their news broadcasts. [2] You read that right. Public media is getting carved up and stripped for parts and PBS Kids had to cut 25% of its staff [3], while America's remaining newsrooms are reaching new profit-seeking lows. To quote Howard Beale... I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. Pamela, there's a clear way out of this disaster: restoring public funding for independent media like PBS and NPR – who are beholden to We The People, not billionaires. Do you believe Congress should restore funding for PBS and NPR? YES NO Pamela, for some Americans in rural communities and small towns, public broadcasting is often the only trusted news source. Public media is required by law to be objective. Without it, many Americans may be forced to watch broadcasts with goals more aligned to a casino than a newsroom. And that's exactly what Trump wants. Without independent media, there will be fewer voices telling the truth about his authoritarian agenda. But instead of restoring funding – which Congress has the authority to negotiate, they're turning their backs on independent journalism.
