Republicans don't want you to have a voice, Pamela. They know that when you vote, you vote against their dangerous and dumb policies. That's why they're vehemently against passing the long-stalled John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
If passed, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act will restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act, which the Supreme Court gutted. Our voting rights, which are a cornerstone of democracy, are under constant attack from the right. Generations of Americans have fought for our right to vote – some losing their lives – and we are not going backwards.
That's why it's critical Congress grows a spine to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Take a minute to tell your representative today to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which will restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act.
Republicans don't believe that everyone has the right to vote; they want to cherry pick who can vote so they can win. As a result, in the past decade, we've seen over 100 state-level laws enacted to suppress the vote, which disproportionately affect Black, brown, Native, LGBTQ+, disabled, young, and low-income voters.
Republicans want to silence our voices. They want to hand over the opportunity for billionaire oligarchs to steal everything that's not nailed down, including our votes, Pamela. That's why they refuse to consider passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
Trump believes our votes are for sale, but they're not. Tell Congress that they must act now to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, ensuring that every single voter has the access and protections they deserve.
In solidarity,
Mike Phelan
