I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to extend an invitation to an enlightening virtual event that Save the Children is hosting about the education crisis in Lebanon on Thursday, September 7th at 12 pm ET.
Did you know that just ten years ago, Lebanon was ranked 7th globally in quality of education by the World Economic Forum? Since then, the influx of Syrian refugees, a financial crisis, the Beirut Blast, COVID-19, and the Ukraine war have all contributed to an alarming humanitarian crisis. A once excellent education system is crumbling.
The event will shed light on how Save the Children's education programs are averting a growing educational crisis in the country. Janti Soeripto, President & CEO of Save the Children U.S., and Jennifer Moorehead, Country Director of Save the Children Lebanon, will discuss the current crisis in Lebanon, the commendable progress that Save the Children and local partners have achieved against the odds, and the strategic vision they have for future success. Our partner Leila Straus will talk about her recent visit to our programs in Lebanon and why she supports the important work we do.
Finally, we'll highlight the story of an amazing acapella choir, composed of Lebanese and Syrian children from our programs, who are gaining confidence, hope and unity through the power of song. They will move and inspire you!
