| Hi Pamela, Erica Smith here. I'm a Democrat running for U.S. Senate in North Carolina. Asking folks who are not yet familiar with my campaign yet can be a little uncomfortable. So I want to tell you more about who I am, before respectfully asking you to support our scrappy, unapologetic, AWESOME campaign for U.S. Senate in North Carolina. SIGN NOW I'm Erica Smith. I'm an engineer, educator, minister, and three-term state senator. Growing up Black in the South was difficult. At a young age I learned the dignity of work and the value of faith. I was raised on a dirt road in rural North Carolina — the same dirt road that my mother was raised on. My five siblings and I grew up picking cucumbers and corn on the family farm. Now it's 2021, and my mother still lives on the same dirt road, waiting for it to be paved. All across North Carolina and America, good people are waiting on their roads to be paved. We are waiting for affordable health care, waiting for reparations, waiting for a living wage, and waiting for a representative who understands what it means to struggle, and who will fight for transformative change. We can be that change, Pamela. I'm running for U.S. Senate to create opportunities for communities like mine. Together we can win a living wage, a Green New Deal, guaranteed single-payer health care, and so much more. If elected, I will fight tirelessly for North Carolina — and I'd be the first Black woman to ever represent the state in the Senate.
