Pamela, It's past time for the FDA to prohibit the sale of all flavored tobacco products. This includes flavored e-cigarettes, which are fueling a new youth nicotine addiction crisis. And it includes menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars, which the tobacco industry has particularly targeted to Black youth. The reason is simple: Big Tobacco uses flavored products like these to hook kids. These flavors improve the taste and hide the harshness of their dangerous and deadly products, making it easier for kids to try them and become addicted. And it's working. We see the effects every day, making the need for action clearer than ever. The FDA must stop the tobacco industry's flavored products before more kids are hooked. Add your name and tell them to take a stand. Youth e-cigarette use is at epidemic levels. The latest data shows that 3.6 million youth, including one in five high schoolers, are vaping. E-cigarette companies lure kids with over 15,000 flavors – from fruit, menthol and mint to gummy worm and cotton candy – and hook them with massive doses of nicotine. 83% of youth e-cigarette users report using flavored products. Big Tobacco also peddles minty menthol cigarettes and cheap little cigars in hundreds of flavors like strawberry, chocolate and tropical twist. They're heavily pushing these products on Black youth in particular. It's no accident that about half of high school smokers use menthols and cigars are now the most popular tobacco product among Black youth. The FDA has the power to change this. By prohibiting all flavored tobacco products, they can stop tobacco companies from addicting another generation of kids.
