Hi,
My last day as DNC chair was over a month ago, but I'm as committed as ever to building a strong Democratic Party. I hope you'll give me a minute to explain why the DNC's deadline this Sunday is so important, and then consider chipping in $7 before then.
When I took over as chair in 2017, our party was in a historically weak position. For too long the DNC followed the accordion model -- downsizing in off years and wondering why we didn't perform as expected when elections came around. Those days are over.
We've made massive investments in our party's infrastructure since -- and they've clearly paid off. But if we want to keep up the level of success we saw in the past four years, we must make sure that the DNC's programs continue to be fully funded. And that starts with Sunday's deadline:
If it makes sense for your budget, will you be one of the 13 more Democrats from your area needed to chip in $7 before the DNC's end-of-month deadline? Our party's future success will be determined by the work we put in now, and that includes making sure the DNC meets their goal this Sunday.
This moment represents a critical juncture for our party. In the past, we've fallen into the trap of resting on our laurels after a string of victories, and that's exactly what leads to defeat. Republicans are incredibly motivated after losing the White House and both houses of Congress, and they are going to throw endless resources into taking back power over the next few years.
The good news is we know how to beat them. We'll invest in our tech infrastructure, support state parties, and recruit great candidates. But it'll take time, money, and a lot of hard work.
So, if you can, will you be one of 13 more Democrats from your area who we need to chip in $7 to the DNC before their Sunday deadline? It would go a long way toward building the strong party we'll need to win in 2022 and beyond.
In unity,
Tom

P.S. We won in 2020 because of early investments in the years prior. Chip in $7 before the DNC's end-of-month deadline to build for that same success in the years to come.
