| Petition to Congress: We urge you to investigate and shut down abusive, inhumane immigrant detention centers, including the one called Alligator Alcatraz. |
25 people have died in ICE custody under Trump this year, the deadliest year in at least two decades.
The inhumane conditions in ICE prisons are shocking and widespread, from Alligator Alcatraz in Florida to detention centers in Illinois, Pennsylvania, California, and beyond. Members of Congress have called Alligator Alcatraz an "internment camp," reported on deaths linked to medical neglect, and documented ICE denying children medical attention and forcing pregnant women to sleep on floors in overcrowded intake cells.
The Trump administration still denies poor conditions at any ICE facility, even as evidence of these horrors grows every day. Congress must take aggressive action to investigate and shut down these abusive detention centers.
Sign the petition: Investigate Trump's ICE prisons! End the horrible, inhumane treatment of people in immigrant detention.
ICE currently holds a record 66,000+ detainees in its horrid prisons, and the agency wants to expand its abusive facilities to warehouse-like "mega detention centers."
Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock have documented some of the Trump administration's abuses and said, "ICE is failing to meet its own standards for reporting detainee deaths, thereby hindering Congressional oversight efforts and leaving families in the dark as to their loved ones' fates."
Trump's mass deportations dragnet is taking people away from their families and communities, and throwing them into torture prisons. Congress must launch a full investigation and end this abuse.
Sign the petition: Shut down Alligator Alcatraz and all inhumane ICE prisons!
