Pamela, wherever I go in Kentucky, from the hood to the holler, I hear the same thing: people are damn tired of putting in a full work week and still struggling to get by.
The math does not add up. Wages have stayed largely stagnant while health care costs go up, housing costs go up, childcare costs go up, utility costs go up — you name it, it's probably going up, unless you're talking about a paycheck.
This is an ongoing crisis in people's daily lives.
To fix it, we need bold economic change. And I'm running for Senate to meet people's actual needs. So I've proposed "40 for 40": a new deal for workers, with a guaranteed $40,000-a-year salary for everyone working a 40-hour work week.
If you're on-board, let's show that this big idea already has broad support. Add your name to support 40 for 40, and say you'll help fight to make it a reality.
By passing this plan, we'll acknowledge the value of workers' labor. We'll ensure that all working people have the economic freedom to live meaningful, dignified lives.
Workers in Kentucky and across this country deserve a raise, and this is our chance to start fresh after 40 years of having Mitch McConnell as our Senator.
I'm running to replace him because if we're going to truly turn the page, we can't settle for watered-down proposals that don't fundamentally improve people's lives.
What I am going to do is put up a fight for the people and advocate for bold policies that will actually make life more affordable.
We can dream big. We can demand better. And we can win — with big ideas, and with someone who has the courage and credibility to get us there.
But the political establishment wants to keep working people down, so they'll try to deny that our 40 for 40 plan has real support. We must prove them wrong.
Add your name if you agree that all full-time workers should be guaranteed a minimum salary of $40,000 a year, and let's put this plan into motion.
Thank you,
Charles
