Dear Pamela,
Our movement faces an unprecedented challenge: an administration that has turned its back on justice and the most marginalized people in our society.
We know this all too well at Vera. Within weeks of taking office, the Trump administration cut millions in funding for our public safety programs—slashing grants that helped reduce violence in prisons, supported crime survivors, and invested in community-based alternatives to policing. |
Pamela: We didn't back down then and we never will. People like you have allowed Vera to continue our work. Thank you. |
Despite these attacks, Vera continues to lead boldly: |
- scaling up our efforts to ensure due process for people in the United States immigration system facing detention and deportation;
|
- breaking down barriers to help formerly incarcerated people succeed by expanding access to education, employment, and housing; and
|
- working to reduce the number of people held behind bars and put an end to inhumane conditions in U.S. prisons, jails, and immigration detention centers.
|
We aren't backing down. This is your chance to make a difference and help sustain our work. Onward, Nick |
