Pamela,
This is something we've been trying to do for years: Ban Congressional stock trading. And we might actually have the opportunity to do it.
Republican leadership in the House of Representatives have been blocking a vote to preserve members' ability to profit from inside information.
But enough members of Congress are fed up with Johnson's corruption coverup that they are organizing a discharge petition―the same tactic that forced the Trump administration to release the Epstein files.
This petition already has bipartisan support. Can you send a message to your members of Congress demanding they sign the discharge petition to ban Congressional stock trading?
Now more than ever it's critical to crack down on Congressional stock trading. Activity like this would be prohibited in any other industry, but because Congress makes its own rules, they've exempted themselves for decades.
Congress people are using insider, secret knowledge that's not available to the general public to enrich themselves. That's the opposite of what our elected representatives should be doing. Congress should be serving the people who elected them, not their stock portfolios.
86% of the general public are in favor of this ban. But to no one's surprise, many members of Congress still refuse to give up their special, unearned privileges. Let's start the new year with real, substantial change. Tell your representative to force a vote to ban Congressional stock trading in 2026.
Thank you,
Mike Phelan
