How we plan to win in November

It's going to take all of us to come together to defeat the radical MAGA agenda and elect pro-democracy champions to defend our rights and our country.

Dear MoveOn member,

I've heard from worried parents, teachers, doctors, and friends about the MAGA agenda that is threatening our bodies and our communities and reversing decades of hard fought protections on our civil rights—from supporting a violent insurrection to crippling our democracy to hurting LGBTQ children and their families—but together we have the power to defeat them at the ballot box this November.

We must remove these MAGA Republicans from power to stop the attacks our civil and human rights and focus on investing in solutions our communities need instead of catering to the richest 1%.

Today, MoveOn is proud to announce our 2022 election plan to protect our democracy, motivate key voters, and support strong candidates in key races up and down the ballot. Check out this amazing coverage on the plan in Politico this morning:1

Together, we've shown that MoveOn members can make a powerful impact to stop Republicans in their tracks, as we did when we blocked them from repealing the Affordable Care Act during the Trump presidency. And we can win elections by using the kind of data-driven voter contact we used to fuel the blue wave in 2018 and 2020.

As attacks escalated in the last two years, MoveOn members have united to push back: from petition campaigns against school book bans, to calling out corporations including AT&T and General Motors for supporting insurrectionists, to helping get Marjorie Taylor Greene removed from her committee assignments for inciting violence related to the election. Our election plan will build on this work to take away the levers of power from these Trump extremists so they can no longer rig the rules for themselves and their corporate and ultra-wealthy donors.

It's going to take all of us to come together to defeat the radical MAGA agenda and elect pro-democracy champions to defend our rights and our country. Will you join the millions of MoveOn members who are ready to take action? Sign up now for the next election training on Sunday, June 5, at 8 p.m. ET/7 CT/6 MT/5 PT.

Here's MoveOn's strategy to win in 2022:

  1. Fight the right and defend democracy. This election is a choice between the radical ideology that has taken over the Republican Party and investing in our communities to create an America that works for all. From blocking progress in the U.S. Senate to fueling abortion bans in states and attacks on students and trans people, Republican extremists have shown what they stand for—and that they must be defeated. One way we're taking the fight to the right is by helping to elect pro-democracy secretaries of state and governors who will safeguard our elections and protect our freedom to vote.
  2. Drive campaigns to motivate Democratic voters. Midterm elections are about turnout, because a smaller number of voters typically heads to the polls. MoveOn will help voters channel their righteous anger from the Supreme Court decision, the upcoming January 6 hearings, and more into concrete plans to vote.
  3. Expand the base with key voters via innovative voter contact. MoveOn has a history of running data-informed programs to find specific messaging and tactics to meet voters where they are in battleground states. In 2022, MoveOn will build the largest relational mobilization of the midterm elections, which any MoveOn member can take part in to get out the vote. Through easy, effective steps, members will authentically reach voters who might not vote this year without a personal request from someone they know or a cultural influencer showing them how.

Ready to get started? RSVP here for the third and final session of the Progressive Power Training Series on Sunday, June 5, at 8 p.m. ET/7 CT/6 MT/5 PT to get prepared with the tools we need to win in November.

Elections set the direction for our country every two years. 2020 reset the national agenda from Trump's reign of horrors to the Biden administration's steady progress in reopening and rebuilding our economy, schools, and communities. But MAGA Republicans have extorted their power at every turn, blocking key legislation to stem gun violence and safeguard and expand voting rights, while trying to turn back the clock on essential civil rights across the country.

In 2022, we must recommit to building an America for All, where racism and authoritarianism are delegitimized and eventually eradicated. Where working Americans are no longer second-class citizens of our democracy and our economy.

All of this work is driven by you, the millions-strong community of MoveOn members, and it has already started. Members have raised thousands of dollars for endorsed candidates including Stacey Abrams and Beto O'Rourke. Phone banks are underway in Texas for a heated congressional primary runoff election next week. And after hundreds of thousands of people were in the streets this weekend to declare that abortion is health care, MoveOn will make sure voters know who is responsible for this draconian ruling to control our bodies.

Check out some of the candidates that MoveOn members across the country have endorsed to champion the fight against extremists and advocate for progressive change:

Bee Nguyen for Secretary of State, GA Reginald Bolding for Secretary of State, AZ Stacey Abrams for Governor, GA Beto O'Rourke for Governor, TX
Mandela Barnes for Senate, WI Senator Mark Kelly, AZ Representative Mike Levin, CA-49 Representative Katie Porter, CA-45
Representative Jahana Hayes, CT-05 Representative Lauren Underwood, IL-14 Representative Colin Allred, TX-32 Representative Sharice Davids, KS-03

In 2022, MoveOn is running the largest midterm election campaign in our history to defeat Trump-backed Republican extremists, protect our democracy, and continue building an America where everyone can thrive, by motivating voters, raising millions of dollars for endorsed candidates, and running evidence-tested voter contact programs.

When we come together, we are powerful, and we can't do this without you. Join thousands of fellow MoveOn members in getting prepped to win in November at the final session of the Progressive Power Training Series on Sunday, June 5, at 8 p.m. ET/7 CT/6 MT/5 PT. You do not need to have attended the previous sessions to join, and all are welcome.

For more than two decades, MoveOn members have taken action and mobilized to win elections and promote progressive change. We have repeatedly taken on the radical right, channeling our voices to end wars, protect democracy, and advance justice for all. And we are not done yet. Next up: We must usher in a larger Democratic majority and keep the radical right at bay.

MoveOn members are action takers. You got connected to this community by signing a petition, attending an event, calling your elected official, or somehow speaking out for change. Thank you for being stalwart and passionate organizers through these tumultuous times. I believe in our power and in the plan we've laid out here, and now it's time to get to work.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump and his allies are methodically enacting a plan to place some of Trump's most ardent supporters in key election offices that oversee vote counting, have the power to certify—or decertify—election results, and declare election winners and losers. We've launched a powerful, multimillion-dollar campaign to stop Trump. But we need your help to power our effort.

Will you chip in to power our campaign to defeat Trump and the GOP in 2022?

Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
