BREAKING: Last night, Republican senators confirmed Markwayne Mullin as Trump's new Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security -- the agency in charge of FEMA, TSA, and ICE. With no disaster management experience, he's unfit to lead FEMA. We're ready to hold him accountable, just like we did with Kristi Noem. Raise your hand if you're with us:
Pamela,
Despite being unfit for the job, Republicans in the Senate just replaced one disaster with another. We need leadership that prioritizes Americans' safety in the face of storms.
Markwayne Mullin is set to lead DHS. And his record shows exactly what we can expect:
- Mullin has zero experience in emergency or disaster management.
- Mullin repeatedly voted against disaster relief funding, including aid for hurricane victims and FEMA's Disaster Relief Fund.
- Mullin has undermined FEMA, even questioning whether the federal government should play a role in disaster preparedness.
- Mullin has never served on the House or Senate Homeland Security Committees.
- Mullin has supported Kristi Noem and the Trump administration's disastrous handling of DHS and is expected to carry on the same reckless agenda.
The chaos of the last year proves what happens when DHS leadership fails. But, our voices have power, Pamela.
Under Kristi Noem and Donald Trump, FEMA disaster aid stalled, recovery efforts slowed, and communities across the country waited months for help after extreme weather events. After weeks of mounting public pressure, Trump finally removed Kristi Noem. That happened because people across the country spoke up and refused to accept reckless leadership at the agency responsible for disaster response and public safety.
We forced one dangerous leader out, Pamela. And we'll be ready to hold another accountable when his leadership threatens Americans safety. We'll be watching to see if he continues his predecessor's legacy of blocking billions of dollars in disaster relief funds for communities in need, spending millions on private jets, diverting FEMA resources and staff to terrorize communities, or spending hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on his own personal ad campaign.
We'll be ready to demand accountability. Are you with us? Add your name now. Then, share this message with friends and family to help us keep the pressure on. The more voices we raise, the harder it is to ignore.
Thank you for taking action,
