Dear Pamela, Elon Musk and Donald Trump are engaged in the wholesale demolition of the federal government, shutting down entire agencies, breaking into financial payment systems, and firing thousands of government workers while utterly ignoring the courts, law, and Constitution. There's a term for what Musk and Trump are doing. It's a coup d'etat. But the mainstream media is refusing to say it — and that's a huge problem. Because if the American people aren't adequately warned about the wildly illegal and unconstitutional coup d'etat that we're facing, then Trump and Musk may actually succeed in the goal of fully dismantling American democracy. That's where Inequality Media comes in. We're sounding the alarm to our millions of followers across social media, and it's working. Our shares, views, and engagement have skyrocketed since the election, allowing us to reach millions of people beyond our core audience and really break through to the broad American public. On YouTube alone, the "watch time" for our videos is up a remarkable 10x from one year ago. Now we need to ramp it up, because we might not have much time left to stop them. That's why I'm asking you today: Will you make a donation to help educate the public and stop Trump's assault on our democracy? But a coup d'etat can also be an executive, like a president or prime minister, ignoring checks and balances, defying courts, and seizing the power of a dictator. That's what's happening in the U.S. right now, but the mainstream media refuses to say so. Take for example, the February 13 editorial from The New York Times, which concedes that Trump and his top associates "are stress-testing the Constitution, and the nation, to a degree not seen since the Civil War," but then asks: "Are we in a constitutional crisis yet?" and answers that what Trump is doing "should be taken as a flashing warning sign." A warning sign? Are you serious? That's just pathetic. The Trump-Vance-Musk regime's disregard for laws and constitutional provisions surrounding access to private data, the impoundment of funds appropriated by Congress, and the refusal to be bound by judicial orders amount to a takeover of our democracy by a handful of men who have no legal authority to do so. If this is not a coup d'etat, I don't know what is. Unless Americans see and understand the whole of it for what it is, rather than receive piecemeal stories that "flood the zone," Americans cannot possibly respond to the whole of it. Unless Americans understand that this is not the normal political give-and-take between two political parties or the opinions of a few academics — but objectively and in reality a coup — Americans cannot rise up as the clear majority we are and demand that democracy be restored. I still believe there will be a reckoning. But the backlash needs to start right now, and we're working day and night to sound the alarm, continue to educate as many people as possible, and mobilize the grassroots resistance we need. So if you're with us and can afford it, please make a donation to help get the truth out and stop Trump's assault on our democracy.
