Will you tell Big Tech companies they must protect user privacy and reproductive rights NOW?

Dear MoveOn member,

The far right has launched an onslaught of attacks on reproductive rights over the years, and Big Tech companies are now poised to aid in their dangerous agenda. Project 2025—a plan crafted by extremist organizations like the Heritage Foundation—is laying the groundwork for a new, urgent threat to reproductive freedom by allowing anti-abortion zealots to weaponize tech platforms to surveil and prosecute people seeking reproductive care.1 Tech companies can take steps NOW to protect our personal reproductive health data from Project 2025's dystopian plans—but they aren't going to do it on their own. We have to demand they take action.

This isn't a hypothetical threat—it's already becoming reality. Last year, a woman in Nebraska was sentenced to two years in prison after Meta gave law enforcement Facebook messages in which she helped her teenage daughter navigate a self-managed abortion.2

Under Project 2025, Big Tech companies like Amazon, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Meta, TikTok, Yelp, and YouTube could be forced into aiding the extreme agenda of a potential second Trump administration. The Project 2025 roadmap would allow authorities to track and punish people for seeking abortion services by using the data these companies collect—credit card transactions, search histories, private messages, and more.3

Big Tech companies must act in our best interest—not as enforcers of extreme political agendas. Will you sign our petition urging these companies to proactively pledge to protect our privacy and reproductive rights?

This goes beyond privacy concerns. Project 2025 also aims to flood social media and online platforms with disinformation about abortion and contraception, further stigmatizing reproductive care and making it harder for people to access accurate information. This puts millions of users at risk—people who rely on these platforms to find care, connect with providers, and learn about their health options.4

Tech companies have a deep responsibility to prevent the spread of harmful misinformation. It's never been more critical that users know they can trust the information they see online, especially during high-stress moments of seeking health care. We need to hear what plans Big Tech companies have to protect our privacy and keep deceptive tactics off the internet.

If these companies fail to reject Project 2025's roadmap, it could further open the door to government overreach into other areas of personal health, eroding privacy rights that should be protected.5 Earlier this year, Senator Ron Wyden's office called out a data broker for allegedly tracking visits to almost 600 Planned Parenthood locations nationwide and then selling that information to anti-abortion advertisers.6

Imagine a world where every search, every message, and every online purchase related to your health could be used against you. This is the reality we're fighting to prevent.

But we need your help. Join us in calling on Big Tech companies to uphold their responsibility to protect user privacy and do everything they can to stop the spread of misinformation. Will you sign the petition?

It's up to us to demand that Big Tech reject this dangerous agenda and proactively refuse to cooperate with these draconian policies. Together, we can ensure these companies act in our best interest—not as enforcers of extreme political agendas.

The privacy and safety of millions of Americans are at stake, and we must hold these companies accountable for the promises they've made to protect our personal data. Before the election, we deserve to know exactly how Big Tech will protect our privacy and mitigate harm if these restrictive abortion laws take effect under Project 2025.

We refuse to wait to see if tech platforms are used to dismantle our rights. We are demanding action NOW. Sign the petition today to urge Big Tech to act now to protect people's reproductive health privacy!

Thanks for all you do.
