Cynthia -

I wanted to take a quick moment to wish you a happy Father's Day – and to share a little bit with you about my dad.

To set the scene, that's my dad in the first picture, standing by our old Jeep – a staple of the Slotkin family farm. It was a 1962 Willys CJ-5, just like the models used in World War II and the Korean War. This one was a gift to my grandfather Hugo for his 50th birthday, so 3 generations of Slotkins grew up driving the fields in the Jeep. The old Jeep was so beloved by the Slotkin cousins that my cousin Bobby bought a 1976 Jeep Renegade in the same style, which you can see in the second picture.

Bobby passed away in 2023, and his beloved Jeep ended up back with us. Its new home is on the same farm where we grew up going for rides in the original Jeep that inspired its purchase. We surprised my dad with the new Jeep last summer, and he couldn't have been happier.

Later today, we'll celebrate with my dad over dinner. My nieces are here this weekend, and it's always our goal to try to give them even half of the memories of Michigan that he gave me. Maybe we'll even go for a ride in the Jeep.

So on behalf of my family and I, happy Father's Day! I hope you're getting the chance to spend it with the people you love.

Elissa
