Elissa is a bit of a data nerd, so we wanted to explain what losing better actually means in terms of numbers:
In Elissa's 2022 House race, we won because we were able to turn out voters in places Democrats normally struggle.
Clinton County: in 2022, Elissa lost by 3.2%. In 2020, the top of the ticket lost it by 6.5%.
Livingston County — a lot of votes there: in 2022, we lost it by nearly 16%. That may seem like a lot, but consider other Democrats lost there by almost 23% in 2020.
Shiawassee County: we lost by 14%. Other Democrats lost it by 20% two years earlier.
That's what we like to call "losing better." It means doing better in "red" parts of the state than most Democrats do.
But resources are critical to this work. It requires help from people like you who want to see Democrats hold the Senate, and Joe Biden win the White House. So please:
