TV ad during the first GOP presidential debate

MoveOn is planning to run a TV ad slamming the MAGA GOP for supporting Trump's attempted coup and lies about 2020 election fraud—and to air it during the first Republican debate on Fox News.

Dear MoveOn member,

After Tuesday's damning indictment of Donald Trump for attempting to illegally overturn the 2020 election results when he knew he lost, MoveOn is planning to enter the lion's den.1

MoveOn is planning to run a TV ad slamming the MAGA GOP for supporting Trump's attempted coup and lies about 2020 election fraud—and to air it during the first Republican debate on Fox News.

The ad, currently in development, is being designed especially for moderate Republicans and Independents and will lay out the case for Trump to be disqualified from the ballot, while slamming the MAGA GOP for being complicit in Trump's attempted coup and subsequent attempt to cover it up.

And it is urgently needed: A new poll shows that 91% of Fox News viewers do not believe that Trump committed "serious crimes."2

Our Constitution is clear: If you engage in insurrection against the United States, you are barred from holding office again. And if you are the party that enables and encourages that traitor to return to office, then the public has a right to know where you stand.

That is why we are planning to place this ad right where it will hurt them the most—the heart of the MAGA Republican Party: Fox viewers. But we can move forward only with your help.

Today, we are asking you to start a $5 monthly donation to help run our ad and power our long-term work to defeat MAGA in 2024. If we raise enough money, we will greenlight the development of the ad, negotiate the airtime immediately, and invest any remaining funds into ensuring Trump and MAGA never step foot in the Oval Office.

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

This is not a short-term project looking for a splash of news.

If we raise the money we need, we will run this ad as often as necessary, for as long as necessary. And not just on Fox. We will run it on social media. On targeted cable networks. On network news. All if we have the money.

We are in this for the long haul because we are serious about exposing the MAGA GOP's ties to Trump's attempted coup. And we are serious about our efforts to ban Trump from running for office.

That is why we started the campaign with former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich months ago, educating the public (and secretaries of state across America) about the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which bars individuals who have engaged in insurrection from holding office.

And that is why we are now redoubling our efforts, starting with running this ad on Fox News during the first Republican debate.

Purchasing a TV ad like this during a high-profile presidential debate and powering our campaign to defeat MAGA next year is expensive. That means we need your help to have the funds to pull this off. Can you chip in $5 a month to make it happen?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

If we are able to raise the money to place this ad, it will reach millions of Fox viewers. We understand the possible backlash from many Fox viewers makes this approach risky.

But saving our country from one of the most dangerous white supremacists ever to set foot in the White House—a man who will roll back all we have won for women, for the LGBTQ+ community, for communities of color, and for low-income families across our country—is worth that risk.

And while MoveOn doesn't typically air ads on Fox News—because we want to avoid giving money to the far right's media mouthpiece—this is a unique opportunity to bring the truth directly to Republican voters and the American public.

As we know, Fox News will never tell them.

But as a grassroots-funded organization, we need your help to air our ad.

Can you start a $5 monthly donation today to air MoveOn's TV ad and to sustain our ongoing work to stop Trump and his MAGA marionettes?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Book bans have skyrocketed thanks to right-wing state laws which have forced teachers to remove books from their classrooms. In response, MoveOn is launching a "Banned Bookmobile," filling it with books that the far right has banned, and driving it around to hand out those books, for free, in highly trafficked areas that will attract media attention. To keep the Banned Bookmobile up and running into 2024, we need your help.
