With the general election now underway in North Carolina, I'd like to share a bit more about why I decided to run for the United States Senate to represent the Tar Heel State. I hope you'll take a moment to read my story and then, if you're able, split a $25 donation between my campaign and the Democratic National Committee to help me become North Carolina's next Senator.
My mom taught me that with hard work, I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. It's a lesson I've taken to heart: When I ran for judge, my opponent said I wouldn't be able to mount a successful candidacy because I was a mom. So, I went door-to-door with my twin boys in tow to prove him wrong -- and I won.
My sons help me remember why I am fighting so hard, day after day. For me, public service has always been not just about today or tomorrow -- but about the next generation and the world we want for them. That means we need more senators who will put the people first and who will fight for a better future for all of our families.
