We have exciting news to share from the campaign:
We're setting a goal to reach 2 million — yes, 2 million — Texas voters in February.
Not many campaigns could achieve a goal like this ten months before Election Day. But we need to talk to as many Texans as possible to hear their stories, share Beto's vision, and empower them to vote under our state's extreme voter restrictions. It's the key to competing with — and defeating — Greg Abbott.
The truth is, it's going to take every tool in our toolkit to hit this goal. Below you can see our Organizing Director's estimates for how much this plan is going to cost.
February 2022: 2,000,000 Voter Contact Plan | ||
Outreach Method | Costs | Estimate |
Texts | Texting Platform | $50,000 |
Calls | Auto-dialer platform | $35,000 |
Canvassing | Printing, supplies | $10,000 |
If we want to ensure we're able to reach 2 million voters in 28 days, we need to raise an additional $95,000 for our organizing budget. Every single text, call, and door-knock to Texans in February will be funded by grassroot supporters like you.
When Beto and our team launched this campaign, we knew one of our biggest challenges would be overcoming the extreme and unjust voter suppression bill that Greg Abbott signed into law last summer.
The challenges of playing on an uneven field are already being felt as we move closer to Election Day — just look at places like Travis County, where officials have had to reject about 50% of mail-in ballot applications under Abbott's new law.
The good news is, we've got a team of over 44,000 volunteers and counting ready to help Texas voters overcome these barriers — we just need to make sure we have the resources to get them on the phones and knocking doors.
It's not just about one election. The only way we'll turn the tide against the decades-long campaign to undermine democracy in Texas is by electing a Governor who believes in protecting our right to vote.
The stakes couldn't be higher, and we're grateful for your support.
Keep fighting,
Beto for Texas
