You know what makes us really proud? The fact that Team AOC is the #1 small-dollar campaign in the House of Representatives. Out of everyone, we have the highest percentage of our campaign cash coming from donors giving under $200. That's quite an accomplishment, and it speaks to the widespread grassroots support for our movement and the agenda we bring to Congress.
As we turn the page on 2020 tonight, we still need to raise about $62,400 to hit our goal before the FEC deadline at midnight. Our average donation is just $15.92. So we need a lot of people to step up to hit our goal tonight — 3,919 to be exact.
It's relatively easy for some candidates to raise $62k. They'd just call up 20 or so rich people. Maybe email the executive directors of some big corporate PACs. Those big checks roll in!
But for us, we choose to raise our money differently. No corporate PACs, no dinner parties with Wall Street-types. Just people giving $15.92 here and there when they can afford it. We're proud to raise our money that way, but it means we really do rely on fundraising emails like this one to hit our goals.
