Tell the House: "The GSA continues to refuse to initiate the transition to President-Elect Biden, jeopardizing the fight against the pandemic and the economic crisis. We urge you to subpoena GSA Administrator Emily Murphy and stop her from obstructing President-Elect Joe Biden and instead ensure a peaceful transfer of power." | Friend, Last week we learned that Administrator of the General Services Agency, Emily Murphy, was refusing to sign crucial paperwork that unlocks public funding, staff, and resources to allow the presidential transition to go smoothly and on time. She's still refusing. Instead, she's busy looking for another job while trying to stop President-Elect Biden from doing his. With the coronavirus pandemic raging and the economy in crisis, we cannot afford any delays. Congress has to step up and take action -- starting by issuing a subpoena to demand she explain herself in front of the public. It's time for Murphy and the Trump Administration to cooperate. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to subpoena the head of the GSA and tell her to stop obstructing the presidential transition! Even Dr. Anthony Fauci is sounding the alarm, warning that the Trump Administration's refusal to begin the transition to Biden is undermining public health. Once more, our country is in a severe crisis. Coronavirus is spreading uncontrolled across the country at record levels. The economic crisis continues to worsen. The longer this delay goes on, the worse it gets for the country as a whole. The House of Representatives has the power to demand the GSA head appear before Congress by issuing a subpoena. Democrats have unfortunately been reluctant to subpoena Trump administration officials, leading to situations like this where Trump appointees think they can ignore the rules and do what's best for Trump rather than what's best for the country. Trump may not want to admit defeat, but the people who run the government need to stop answering to him and instead, work with Biden and his team to ensure a smooth transition. Add your name: Stop obstructing the presidential transition! Thanks, Team Progress |
