Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer has called for cancellation of $50,000 in student loan debt per person. If we are going to deliver relief to families during the pandemic and save our economy from collapse, then President-Elect Biden needs to back this student loan debt cancellation plan. Sign the petition: Tell the Biden transition team to commit to cancelling $50,000 in student loan debt! Nationally, our student loan debt is over $1 trillion and rising. That's an unfathomable number, but here's what that feels like in reality: a generation of Americans who will never be first-time home buyers, millions of families making tough choices between paying for healthcare or paying off college debt, living life on a razor-thin margin of paycheck-to-paycheck. With the history-making unemployment of millions of Americans, including those just getting started in their careers, looming student debt is a ticking time bomb that's ready to explode.
