One year ago, I watched, sickened, as Donald Trump placed “blame on both sides” after tragic violence between neo-Nazis and good people in Charlottesville.   Today, white supremacists are gathering once again for their hateful “Unite the Right” rally. I’m calling on 1OO,OOO Americans to take a stand against today’s Unite the Right rally. Let’s tell the world that hatred such as this has no place in our country. I want you to remember -- exactly one year ago today -- when we all watched the President of the United States refuse to unequivocally denounce the violence in Charlottesville. I was horrified. And I’ll tell you what I told my Democratic colleagues that disturbing day: President Trump will not protect people of color in this nation. That’s why I’m turning to you. Before this hateful rally ends, I need you to condemn white supremacy in America. >>   I NEVER thought I’d see an American President value white supremacy over the safety of our families and neighbors.    And ever since President Trump placed the blame “on both sides” in Charlottesville last year, he’s further emboldened his most vicious white supremacist supporters. But we can’t despair every time Trump and Stephen Miller cook up another racist policy to rile up violent people. We have to stand up and stand strong.
