SIGN NOW: Speak out against this last-minute attempt to rig the Electoral College in Nebraska >>
This is urgent, Pamela.
National politicians like Sen. Lindsey Graham and right-wing influencers are pushing the state of Nebraska to change its election rules to benefit Donald Trump's presidential campaign – by returning to a winner-take-all electoral college vote.
When it comes to elections, rules aren't meant to be broken. And no matter who you are voting for in November, I hope we can all agree: politicians shouldn't be allowed to switch the rules at the last minute to gain a partisan advantage.
Join the nationwide outcry: condemn this last-minute effort to skew the Electoral College for partisan gain >>
Nebraska, along with Maine, are the only two states that divide their electoral college votes by congressional district. This system has been in place for over a decade.
But now, under pressure from federal politicians who are worried that Nebraska's 2nd congressional district will vote differently from the rest of the state, some lawmakers want to change those rules right before November's election to help the candidate they want to win.
The team at Common Cause Nebraska has defeated efforts to change this before. But with just weeks until the election, national politicians are now putting major pressure on state officials – including the governor of Nebraska, who is ready to call a special legislative session to rush this scheme into law.
No matter where you live, it's crucial we all speak out now to prevent this last-second distraction from gaining even more momentum – or worse, getting passed.
Add your name to REJECT this effort to distort our democracy and silence Nebraska voters for partisan gain.
Thanks for all you do,
Virginia Kase Solomón, President and CEO
and the team at Common Cause
