Petition to Congress: We urge you to pass the Prescription Drug Price Relief Act to lower prescription costs for Americans. | Big Pharma, insurance giants, and corporate pharmacy middlemen are all trying to maximize profits from prescription medications. That's why the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) just sued three companies (Caremark Rx, Express Scripts, and Optum Rx) for jacking up the cost of insulin by 1,200 percent over the last two decades! While the FTC aims to hold these corporations accountable for over-charging the American people, Congress must act to stop Big Pharma and pharmacy middlemen from jacking up the costs of all prescription drugs. That's why Senator Bernie Sanders and Rep. Ro Khanna introduced the Prescription Drug Price Relief Act. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to pass the Sanders-Khanna Prescription Drug Price Relief Act. The legislation would lower the cost of medications, ensure Americans aren't paying more for their prescriptions than people in other countries, and hold the pharmaceutical industry accountable for ripping off American patients. In just one example of the disparities between what Americans pay and what other countries pay, "Merck has earned more from its cancer drug Keytruda in the U.S. ($43.4 billion since 2015) than it has in every other nation combined ($30 billion)." "Whether you're Democrat, Republican, independent, conservative, progressive, you know that the pharmaceutical industry is ripping us off," Sen. Sanders said earlier this year. "We are seeing the same exact prescription drugs sold in America for more than 10 times what they are sold in Canada, or Europe, or Asia." It's time for our lawmakers in Congress to take on corporate greed at every level of the corporate health care industry. Add your name: Tell Congress to lower prescription drug costs! |
