Pamela, today’s an important deadline for these outrageous bills

Can we count on your urgent gift?

Pamela, we have an urgent request:

Today is "Crossover Day," an important deadline in the Georgia legislature. If a bill doesn't pass either the state House or the State Senate by midnight, it can't be considered again until next January.

And right now, we are actively working to stop two bills that attack voting rights and the LGBTQ+ community.

If you can chip in right now, your gift will help mobilize against harmful legislation, advance policies that make it easier for people to make their voices heard, respond to future threats to our fundamental rights, and more.

Here's what you need to know about these two dangerous pieces of legislation:

  • SB 221 is an alarming attempt to legislate election intimidation and mass disenfranchisement. If it becomes law, it will embolden far-right activists and election deniers to continue their crusade of challenging the eligibility of Georgia voters to cast their ballots — and it could also lead to reduced voter registration rates in Georgia by eliminating automatic voter registration.
  • SB 88 is a "Don't Say Gay'' bill that singles out the topic of gender identity in schools for specific regulation — a practice that could stigmatize LGBTQ+ youth. This anti-democratic educational censorship would restrict private school educators in the classroom and set the stage for public school districts to force teachers to out transgender students to their parents.

It's no surprise that the same lawmakers who are trying to restrict our freedom to vote are also attacking the LGBTQ+ community. If we're free to make our voices heard, we can have more power to push back against anti-LGBTQ+ forces — and that threatens extremist lawmakers who want free rein to enact a hateful agenda.

Pamela, we're sounding the alarm, rallying grassroots activists, and working around the clock to keep these bills from passing by tonight's deadline. And after today, we'll keep working to stop anti-democratic bills and promote pro-voter policies — but we need grassroots support to make it happen. Please rush a $20 donation right away to help build a more inclusive democracy.

We'll keep you posted on where these bills stand.

Thank you for everything,

Fair Fight Action
