We are facing a bit of a dilemma on our campaign.

We still have more individual donations than anyone else. By a lot.

But the truth is that our average contribution has been steadily in decline. You may recall $27 was our average during the 2016 campaign. So far this month it's about $16.

Here's why this is a hurdle for our campaign: for each $2,800 max-out check one of our opponents receives from a wealthy campaign contributor, we must receive 175 donations to keep up.

There are two ways we can close the gap:

• A higher number of individual donations
• Donations made in slightly larger amounts

So far on this campaign, most people making a contribution for the first time are donating $3.

Today, if you're able, we'd like to ask if you can chip in $10 to help build the organization required to win. Most of our campaign's funding comes as a result of emails like this one, so that's why we're asking you directly:

Can you make a $10 contribution to our campaign today? If we're in this together, we will win this primary, defeat Trump, and transform our country.

Bernie is very proud of the way we are funding this campaign. In fact, he is thrilled that our average donation is lower than it was in 2016.
