They have abandoned this responsibility in favor of holding President Trump's word as gospel and allowing him free rein to do whatever he pleases. Just a few years ago, Senate Republicans refused to give Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland a fair hearing. In fact, they took unprecedented steps to block President Obama's nominees. But recently, they changed the rules to make it easier for them to force nominees through without due process and buy-in from Democrats. The consequence? They'll let President Trump pack the courts with ideologues and fill our government with unqualified appointees. Drain the swamp? Please! They're filling the swamp!
