Hi,
The House Ways and Means Committee shared Republicans' reconciliation bill this week. And I won't sugarcoat it -- it's bad.
I'll get into more below but if you're already tracking how damaging this bill is, please take a minute to call your representative (even if you have already!) and demand they protect our clean energy future now. If you have already made that call, thank you.
Now to the details: This bill amounts to a full repeal of the climate and clean energy progress we've made, axing 400,000 good-paying clean energy jobs, stalling clean energy progress, and raising energy costs for all of us.
It targets clean energy investments in three ways: Some will go away immediately. Some will be phased out so quickly that they'll be ineffective. And others will receive so many new requirements that no company can access them.
This bill is our worst-case scenario, but we do have an opening: Republican leadership wrote this bill behind closed doors. Most House members were not consulted on it, and they know the benefits of clean energy investments in their own districts. Those folks are not happy. And that means Republican leadership has a tough vote ahead of them.
House leadership wants to move quickly, but there's a real chance it takes a couple of days or weeks before they feel like they can advance a vote. So, that's our window.
Now is our time to make an impact. Call your representative today to make your voice heard. We put together a quick and easy form to help you get connected with your representative's office and a guide to help you as you make your call.
Every call we can make has an impact. It shows our members of Congress that this coordinated attack on our future is not popular, and it's a reminder that we will remember how they vote on this bill.
If you've already called, thank you. You can actually call again! Or you can forward this message to your networks to help connect your friends and family with an impactful way to take action to protect our clean energy progress.
Thank you for all you're doing for our future. And thank you for making your voice heard.
