I'm May Boeve, and I'm the Executive Director here at 350.org. I noticed that you recently joined 350, so I wanted to personally reach out and say welcome!
Before I jump into how we are fighting the climate crisis, I want to give you a quick sense of what you can expect now that you're signed up for our email list:
- Typically we send around two to three emails a week. We'll write to you about our climate campaigns at the federal, state, and local level and ways you can get involved.
- We'll also loop you into ways to join our global campaigns to defeat the fossil fuel industry.
- We may also ask you if you can make a small contribution to support our work. Because there is only one way to build a global grassroots movement, and that's from the bottom up.
We are sending you updates because we are in the midst of the climate crisis, which is disproportionately affecting frontline communities and communities of color. We simply don't have the luxury to postpone climate action any longer, and it needs all of us to take action now.
And here's the first order of business:
We must phase out ALL fossil fuels.
By now, most people understand that Big Oil profits off the destruction of our climate.
It has never been more apparent that the fossil fuel industry will stop at nothing to turn a profit. They are willing to watch forests burn, species become extinct, and entire communities sink under the ocean while sea levels rise and wildfires rage.
We can't let that happen.
That's why we must pressure our leaders to accelerate the transition to renewable energy and end the era of fossil fuels for good. Can you add your name?
