Pamela, Project 2025 is the now-famous plan, drafted by the former Trump administration staffers who remained in his good graces as a blueprint for Trump's return to the White House. Much has been made of Project 2025's calls to privatize Medicare, slash taxes for the wealthy, privatize the National Weather Service, outlaw abortion, and more. But what does Project 2025 mean for workers? In short, Project 2025 is the boss's best friend. If any politician enacts it, it will set working people back by decades. Unions are making a comeback now―but Project 2025 would reverse the gains of the last few years and grind working people to dust. Sign now to EXPOSE Project 2025's anti-worker agenda! Project 2025 calls for the following anti-worker actions: Allow states and local governments to obtain waivers from federal labor laws like the Fair Labor Standards Act, potentially allowing states to ignore the federal minimum wage and other critical worker protections and safety standards. Let states apply for exemptions from the National Labor Relations Act, the 1935 bedrock law that protects the right to organize and makes intimidation and retribution against organizing workers illegal. Remove overtime pay requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act, empowering companies to pick and choose what time frames and work hours qualify as overtime to squeeze workers and pad their profits. End mandatory use of short-term bargaining contracts, called Project Labor Agreements (PLAs), on federal construction projects and repeal the Davis-Bacon Act that ensures "prevailing wages" are paid on such federally-financed projects. Establish stringent rules for how states administer unemployment insurance programs that would make it much harder for workers to access unemployment benefits. This is just the beginning, because perhaps the worst of the Project 2025 anti-worker agenda is its attacks on unions. For unions, Project 2025 would: Allow employers to decertify a union at any point, including during contract negotiations. Give employers the ability to set up their own employer-dominated labor organizations to siphon union-curious workers into anti-union propaganda organizations. Encourage the nomination of anti-worker members to the National Labor Relations Board and as Secretary of Labor. Project 2025 could stop the resurgent labor movement dead in its tracks and make it even harder for working people than it already is. Stand with workers and sign on to EXPOSE this anti-worker agenda! Thank you, Mike Phelan Progress America |
